Collection of musical instruments

In the last ten years the MIFB has worked extensively with all subjects related to his collection-from the pre-Columbian period until 1920 including the steps and actions necessary to recover its collection of musical instruments, in order to start a policy for restoration, enhancement and display.

Fernández Blanco Museum today holds the totality of the objects of his priceless collection of musical instruments, and has initiated a vigorous task after its investigation, re-cataloging, restoration and exhibition. The visibility of this work has also enabled the incorporation of new donations of instruments and music machines.

Actions in this important and pressing museological project for the remodeling of the hall and value of his collection, have been supported by the Ministry of Culture of GCBA, the Undersecretary of Cultural Heritage, the Directorate General of Museums and the Association Friends of the Museum Fernandez Blanco, added to the contribution of funding and sponsorship from the American Express Foundation in the United States, made through the Patronage Act (Cultural Promotion Scheme implemented by the City Government in 2010).

Important instruments were previously restored by the Museum with the support of Ministry of Culture, and thanks to the wonderful job-ad honorem- master luthier Argentine Horacio Piñeiro, giving the project enhancement, seriousness and professionalism of relevant case.
